Sunday Mornings at Earlham Church of Christ…

When it comes to visiting a church for the first time, we understand that it can be a little overwhelming. We also know that you may want additional information about us and what a typical Sunday looks like at Earlham Church of Christ for you and your family. We have taken the time to attempt to provide you with some of those answers. However, if you, at any time, have any other questions for us, please feel free to contact the church at 515-758-2787.

Worship Services?

Our church service begins at 9:30 in our main auditorium with a time of worship. Our congregation is made up of many families of varying ages. Our worship service is blended and includes contemporary songs you might hear on the radio as well as a few hymns. There is a worship leader on stage and the words are available on a screen in the front of the worship center.

During our worship time of the service, we take the opportunity to share prayer requests with our church family and those who attend our services, as we are called share in each other’s burdens. (Galatians 6:2-3)

At the conclusion of our song service and prayer time, we move into what we call Communion. We partake in the Lord’s Supper every week as a reminder of the sacrifice that Jesus Christ made for us on the cross. If you are an immersed believer, we invite and encourage you to join us during this time.

In addition to Communion, we have portion of the service that we dedicate to the giving of Tithes an Offering. We teach that everything we have comes from God and we should give a portion of that back to Him to be used for His Church and the ministry of the gospel. If you are visiting with us, we do not want you to feel obligated to participate, but if you would like to give, we want to assure you that our church leadership prayerfully directs the funds given to best serve the needs of the church and the missions that we support.

After Offering our Minister or a guest speaker will deliver a message. All messages that are delivered at ECC are God-inspired and come directly from Scripture.  We try to conduct our services between 60-75 minutes most Sundays.

What is the dress code for the Worship Service?

Typically, the dress for our services is very comfortable and casual. We believe that God is less concerned about your outward appearance. At ECC on Sunday mornings you will see a range of styles. These can include anything between a t-shirt and jeans to someone's Sunday best, but most people here are pretty casual in their attire.

Are there any programs for my kids?

Our church offers programs for children of all ages ranging from Nursery for Birth to 3 yrs. old throughout the whole service, and Children’s Church for Pre-K through 4th grade, children will be dismissed before the sermon. On 5th Sundays we have Family Sundays and our students 4 years old through 4th grade are invited to learn along with the adults in the worship center.
